Superdrug Purchases

Image

It’s been a while since I last went crazy with Superdrug sales, so I thought it was about time I placed an order. Also, there are new Barry M Nail Polishes! You might have noticed I’m utterly obsessed with them, so of course I had to order all of these ‘Silk’ ones. And have you heard that there are three new Hi Shine Gellies being released in, like, two days?! I think we can expect to see a review of those on my blog very soon (hopefully).

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish | Complete Collection

New Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish | Summer

Aren’t the beautiful? Swatches and review soon.

Barry M Silk Nail Polishes– Truffle, Pearl, Blossom, Heather, Mist, Meadow, £3.99 (buy one get one half price).

L’Oreal Eau de Teint Foundation– £9.99- Porcelain- I’ve heard really mixed reviews of this. When it was first released I was completely decided that I did not want it. I was wrong, and so far, I think I kind of like it. It’s way to dark (this is the lightest shade, of course) but I’m planning on buying Illamasqua Skin Base in White asap, so I’ll hopefully have a real opinion soon.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation– £9.99- Natural Ivory- The shade range for this foundation is so confusing. This shade is the lightest neutral (as far as I can tell) and it is a tad too dark, but again, I’m working on it. I’ve heard a lot about this foundation recently, so I have pretty high hopes for it. I love it when a drugstore product gets randomly hyped up by everyone all at once.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer– £9.99- I’ve heard loads about this recently too! I am determined to fall in love with L’Oreal makeup.

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer– £5.99- This has been released fairly recently, and I’m a little obsessed with primers at the moment (can you tell?). A lot of Rimmel is two-for-£9 at the moment, too.

Rimmel Scandeleyes Micro Liner– £5.49- Black– I love felt tip style eyeliners, and since I’ve just used up my lovely Maybelline Eyestudio Precise Liner, I thought I’d give this one a try. I really love the other Scandeleyes liners (there might be three of the black one in my makeup drawer at the moment, shhh) so I’m hoping this one will be good.

Bourjois Java Rice Powder– £9.99- I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to buy this for so long purely because I didn’t know exactly what it was. Turns out it’s a kind of brightening finishing powder (possibly more about that in a review or something soon) and I’ve only used it once, but so far, I think I really like it. It’s a re-release from 1879, too, which I think is really cool, something to do with Bourjois’ 150th birthday last year.

Bourjois Happy Light Primer- £10.99- Matte, Luminous– I’ve been so obsessed with the idea of the Happy Light range since it was released, but the foundations all looked really dark, so I’ve decided to try out the primers! I’ve barely looked at these two yet, so I don’t have much to say except that I am in love with the packaging (and all Bourjois packaging).

Have you tried any of the things I’ve bought? And are you as exited as I am for the new Barry M Gelly nail polishes?!?

New Things! Part 3

Part 3- makeup!:)

Ok, I was meant to write this post ages ago but I never got round to it, but now, here it is! YAY:) I’ve had so many people mention that they want to see what I think of the lipsticks in the big collage picture I posted on Part 1 and 2, so I’m pretty exited to start writing this.

Beauty Blenders!

It took some deliberation, but I’ve decided these definitely go with makeup, not skincare, even though I’m sure my skin has been clearer since I’ve started using these to apply my makeup. These aren’t genuine beauty blenders, but I can’t see how they could work any better or be any different, because these are just fantastic. I use mine for foundation, powder, and sometimes even blush and highlighter, because it creates such a flawless, natural finish. Little tip, if you’re one of the lucky people who can get away with just wearing powder on your skin, try applying it with one of these. It’ll give you a really fantastic layer of natural looking coverage. Something to think about;) I get mine from Amazon or Ebay;)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain.

WOW. Really, just wow. This foundation is incredible. About six months ago, I started wearing foundation. I was using Bobbi Brown skin foundation in the lightest shade, because it was the only thing I could find that was light enough for me. I’ve loved it ever since, but every drugstore foundation I tried was too dark for me, so I was still hunting for a cheaper alternative. Fast forward five months, and I’m with my little sister in Superdrug, trying to find a foundation that would suit her (which she didn’t need, because she has great skin, but all her friends had started wearing makeup. Irritating) and we decided on a BB Cream for her, when she noticed this bottle of foundation and was all like ‘haha, Loll, that foundation looks light enough even for you‘ and damn it, she was right. And I love it, and it has a better coverage than Bobbi Brown, which for days when my skin is gross, is really nice. The only thing I will say is that If you have oily skin, this probably isn’t for you. I have combination skin, but I hate matte foundations, I think skin should have some natural glowiness to it, and I think matte foundations hide that. But anyway, this is great for nice, healthy looking skin for maybe five hours, but then I find my skin starts to get a bit oily. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found that my Bobbi Brown is perfect for keeping my skin the same all day, but Match Perfection is less than £10, so I’m not complaining.

Revlon Baby Stick in Tahitian

I’m still deliberating about this product. Over the past few months I’ve become a bit of a blush fanatic, trying out every single product I could get my hands on. This is the latest in that line, and it’s the first one I have a serious love/hate relationship with. I picked it up in the Superdrud 3-for-2 sale, so I figured if I didn’t like it, it didn’t really matter because essentially, it was free;) But anyway, when I first tried it, I was like, ‘OMG, this is amazing’. It says it’s for lips and cheeks, and I was loving it for both. It was a really sheer wash of colour, which is great if you’re pale like me (and Casper). But, after a while, I noticed the little colour there was faded, and it was just kinda greasy, so I don’t know. If you have dry skin, maybe give this a go? I’m determined to give this a fair chance, so I’m not going to say I hate it just yet;)

Rimmel Expression Kajal Eyeliner

Bought it because I wanted a waterproof eyeliner pencil. Thought it might work. Was alright. There’s not really much else I can say about this. It’s an eyeliner pencil, it lasts pretty well, the ‘lead’ wasn’t as soft as I like them to be, could be kinda scratchy. I’ve got cheaper eyeliners I prefer, so mergh;( If you have a waterproof eyeliner pencil, let me know!

Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipsticks in Cranberry and Raspberry

I realised about a month ago that I don’t have any lipsticks. Said fact totally freaked me out, so I started obsessing about them:) I’ve always had a bit of a problem with lipsticks. I’ve never really found a shade that looked quite right on me, so I decided to go to my trusty Natural Collection counter and try out some of the shades. These two really caught my eye, and I love them both. They both look pretty natural on me, which is nice, but they’re like a me-but-better product, you know? These are about £2 each from Boots, which is absolutely fantastic and they’re totally worth it.

I really can’t write today ugh;(

Revlon Lip Butters in Tutti Frutti and Wild Watermelon

Tutti Frutti was one of the very first things I reviewed on this blog. That was a loooong time ago. I was in love with it for a while, and then I forgot about it for a while, but then the other day I picked up Wild Watermelon and fell in love all over again. They’re just brilliant, they can be really sheer, or really pigmented, and it’s like you can use it as seven different lipsticks. And I’m starting to want to buy more of these. I think we all know what that could mean. Someone recommend me some colours, preferably similar to this, I like reds and dark pinks, before I buy them all to try. HELP.

Barry M TMLP Lipstick

This was part of an absolutely lovely giveaway by Asha from http://www.theoxfordowl.wordpress.com which, moment of tense silence please, I won. It arrived a couple of weeks ago, with Mr. Bumble, this lipstick, a face mask, and couple of other insanely cute little things!:) So check out her blog because it’s fabulous, and you’ll love it. Follow+like+comment. But anyway, this lipstick. My god, I actually love it. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture, but you’ll just have to take my word that this thing goes fuchsia. I’ll have to wear it in a Youtube video so you can see;) But wow. It lasts amazingly well, it’s really conditioning, and the colour is great. What more can you ask for;)? You can buy this for £4.49 at Boots or Superdrug. I might have to buy another one of these, just because I want to see how it would work in lip-balm form. That could be pretty amazing!:) If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out Cass’ blog, she’s done a post on making your own lip balm, and it looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it.

The Free Gift Theory: Clinique

OK, so, I’m casually walking around Boots or Superdrug, when BAM, buy one get one free, or BAM, free gift, or BAM, 3 for £10. I hate them. I HATE THEM. Which is annoying, because I also love them, because It’s FREE MAKEUP. But I end up buying way more stuff than I actually need.

Image

This is what I bought the other day, when I went shopping to get a BB Cream. Clinique have this offer going on where you can buy one skincare and any other item and you get a free gift, and it’s a reallyreally good free gift. Just want to start off by mentioning the citrus-y make-up bag everything comes in-

Image

IT’S SO CUTE. I did a post about my make-up bag the other day, but yeah. This is my new make-up bag. ISN’T IT PRETTY?

Image

This is actually amazing, the only things here that I actually payed for (I know, I know, they’re so overpriced I actually payed for all of it) are the Clinique Chubby Stick in 08 Grandest Grape which I love. If you’ve read any of my posts before you’ll know I’ve been obsessed with these for ages, and I actually love them. It’s not one of those really depressing things that you REALLYREALLYWANT and then you buy it and it’s crap, they’re actually amazing. The only fault  with them, especially with this dark colour, is that it’s quite difficult to apply. The end is kind of pointed like a crayon, which means you literally have to colour your lips in, but I think when I’ve used it a few times it’ll be fine:) The skincare item I bought was Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Pressed Powder, which looks amazing. I haven’t used it yet, but you apparently just dab it on your skin to get rid of redness, which is great for me because my skin is awful and I go bright red, so I’ll let you know if it’s any good. Hopefully my mom won’t decide it’s rightfully hers and steal it before then, though.

The contents of the free gift:

Ironically, it actually contained a chubby stick. It’s a mini version in 06 Whoppin’ Watermelon, which is nice but I don’t like it as much as my grape one because my lips are naturally quite dark, so this doesn’t show up unless I spend two hours making my lips look lighter first. This kind of defeats the object of why I wanted a chubby stick in the first place. I love lipsticks that you can just apply quickly before you leave the house which I can’t do with light colours. It’s lovely all the same, and I will use it, but I prefer lipsticks that stand out, otherwise I don’t really see the point. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but watermelon is, ahem, RED. Not sheer pink.

The gift also came with High Impact Mascara in 01 Black. I hardly ever wear mascara, so I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out of this, but the brush looks OK and the formula seems fine, but it’s got nothing on my Avon one. Honestly, best mascara ever. It also came with Quickliner for Eyes in 01 Intense Black, which is actually amazing. It’s in kind of pencil form but it looks like liquid liner when you’re wearing it, and it’s really easy to apply. I only have one problem. I’ve used it once and it’s pretty much run out. Well, it hasn’t, but it’s obviously not one you can sharpen, and it won’t twist or anything so I can get the rest of the eyeliner. Am I being really thick here? Is there some really obvious way to get it to work? PLEASE HELP ME.

ImageImage

I’m so confused. By the way, I’m not sure if you can tell by this, but the packaging feels really cheap. I’m not sure if that means this is a sample, and you only get like a tiny bit of eyeliner with it, because the packaging says ‘not for individual sale’ so I’m not sure if you can buy it. Leave me a comment if you have any ideas.

It also came with Moisture Surge moisturiser, which is gorgeous, and I think I’ll be buying it in full size when it runs out. It’s one of those formulas that goes on like liquid and then feels like powder. It’s a really nice light moisturiser and you really don’t need a lot of it. There was also All About Eyes serum which is supposed reduce puffy eyes and dark circles. Not sure how useful this will be to me, but it’s a really nice formula like the moisturiser, and I’ll definitely give it a go.

The last thing that came with the gift that I’m pretty exited about is the Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser. I hate taking my make-up off with make-up wipes because they’re just so bad for your skin, so this is cool:) I’ve been using my No7 one a lot recently but there isn’t much left, so this is good. My mom’s used this before and says she loved it actually:) Me and my dad got this gift for her about a week ago for her birthday,  and she wanted the full size version of this cleanser as the skin care part but we got the wrong one (oops), and we got her the full-size foundation that she had as a trial a while ago.

My BB Cream-

I can cross this off my Spring Wishlist now!:) I’m not going to say too much about this because I want to do a full review of it because I realised I only ever do like big group type reviews.

Other random stuff I got yesterday-

Image

Dry shampoo! I have a real love/hate relationship with this stuff. But look how nice the bottle is? I’m embracing the pink. I’m growing up.

Image

Bandeau tops- I think the rest if the world bought these about a year ago but I’ve only just got round to it, basically only because I’ve decided they’ll be pretty useful for when I go on holiday:)

Thanks for reading, leave me a comment if you have any sort of idea about that bloody eyeliner-.-

I HAVE A CLINIQUE CHUBBY STICK. WOO.

The Soap&Glory Post

I got my first Soap and Glory stuff about three years ago, but at the time, I had just been introduced to Lush and Honey I Washed the Kids soap, so everything else bath-stuff-wise kinda took a back seat. But, when I realised about 6 months later that I wasn’t completely in love with Honey I Washed the Kids soap, I discovered that in the real world, Soap&Glory is just as awesome as Lush. Here’s my full collection (minus my Soap&Glory make-up, which I’ll show you at the end)—

Image

If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll know I’m not a huge fan of all things pink and pretty, but I actually kind of love this packaging. The whole brand has a kind of retro-girl-power theme to it, and some of the captions on said packaging are bloody hilarious.

Face Soap* and Clarity

*for the chemistry sticklers who may scrutinize the ingredients list, we will readily admit: this is not technically a ‘soap’. NOPE. This is a high-tech, non-drying, foaming facial wash, formulated with complexion friendly non-drying easy-rinse surfactants.

(Try and form a relevant pun out of that, we dare you). Dictionary be damned, it will do a bang-up job at washing your face.

Just a little example of what’s on the packaging of Face Soap and Clarity there for you.

Here are my currently half-used products that are living in the bathroom—Image

Aaaaah, fancy. This is Scrub ’em and Leave ’em, Clean, Girls, Foam Call and Face Soap and Clarity.

AND MOVING ON.

These are the separate pictures of my collection, because they came in different sets (note: some of the above are not pictured in either of these sets because they were purchased separately. It’s lovely having a constant 3-for-2 sale at Boots, but it doesn’t help the fact that I’m trying not to buy loads of stuff that I will never get round to using).

Image

This was all part of the ‘Best of All’ gift set, which is huge. They normally reduce the huge sets at Christmas (I got this for £30 instead of £60) and it comes in a Soap&Glory fabric ‘bag’. Come to think of it, I’ve only ever seen the huge sets at Christmas, so maybe that’s the only time they sell them, but anyway, they’re great, so keep an eye out for them. I can’t remember what the one the year before last was called, but that was really cool to. This set included Smoothie Star, Peaches and Clean, Hand Food, Heel Genius, Clean on Me, Sugar Crush, The Righteous Butter, Thick and Fast Mascara and Punch Bowl Sexy Mother Pucker Lipgloss (the mascara and lipgloss aren’t in this picture, they’re going to be in the make-up picture in a bit).

The next set, which was also for Christmas, is called Small Wonders, which is filled with, as you may have guessed, small, travel size products.

Image

This is: one of those scratchy body puff things, mini Hand Food, mini Scrub of your Life, mini Righteous Butter and mini Clean on Me. These are really cute, and I’m saving them for my holiday.

Soap&Glory Make-up…

ImageImage

That’s Thick and Fast Mascara, Sexy Mother Pucker (see my review here) in Candy Gloss and Punch Bowl, and Crazy Sexy Kohl Eyes set, which is five eyeliners (black, brown, purple, green, blue) and three eyeshadows (black, mauve, taupe).

I pretty much have nothing bad to say about any of this stuff. I love the whole Soap&Glory range, and to be fair, there isn’t a huge range of scents, but everything smells distinctly Soap&Glory-ish becuase it sticks to about three different ‘flavours’ and I’m pretty sure I would know it anywhere. If you want to know if you like the smell of Soap&Glory before you start buying loads of it, I’d try one of the body mists (see first picture), Mist you Madly or Glam-a-lot. They’re both a lot sweeter than the rest of the stuff, but a lot of the bottles say ‘scented with Mist you Madly’  and you can kinda get an idea of which ones to buy, depending on which scent you liked. I think that Soap&Glory is really well priced- one bottle goes a long long long way, hence my huge collection (the pictures above don’t show the items of have two or three of;0).

You can buy Soap&Glory at http://www.boots.com

And this is the official website- http://www.soapandglory.com

Let me know what you think!
