‘Frozen’ Nails | NOTD

Is anyone else a teeny bit obsessed with Elsa’s makeup in Frozen? I think it’s beautiful. The eyeshadow and the lip colour in particular are stunning, and while I’ve been a little scared to try and recreate them, I did end up creating a kind of Frozen-esque nail art. I’m not sure it counts as nail art, actually. It looks so much fancier than it is, and I thought I might as well upload a couple of pictures.

This is basically just two coats of Essie’s Lapiz of Luxury (reviewand then a little bit of blue glitter. It’s not that obvious in the photos, but the glitter is mainly on the ends of my nails in a kind of ombre effect. I think it looks so pretty, and considering I am less than useless when it comes to fancy nail art designs, I think this turned out pretty well. And it took the same amount of time as a normal manicure.

If you don’t have any glitter lying around, you could do the same effect with a glittery nail polish, by the way, but I kind of like the textured effect of pure glitter under one top coat. Speaking of top coats, I’m desperately searching for a new one. The Maybelline one I’m using at the moment does prevent chipping (for about 48 hours longer than without a top coat) but it doesn’t speed up the drying time or anything. Any recommendations welcome!:)

What do you think of this nail-look? I really hope it doesn’t chip too badly because I am not looking forward to battling with the nail polish remover on this one.

Nail Polish Colour Crush- Purple(:

I’m starting to really love writing these posts! It’s nice to just talk about one amazing nail polish, rather than doing a post with five different items in it:)

I thought that for nail polish colour crush no#3, I tell you about one of the P.I.A polishes I have. You might remember from a post I did about a month ago where I talked about these, kind of briefly, but promised a more detailed review. Well, this is it:D Kind of. OK, so it’s not that detailed. But there are a few pretty pictures!! You can have a look at said post here.

Image

This is P.I.A polish in 12. No, it doesn’t have a name. Yes, that does drive me mad. But I’ll get over it, because look at this colour! It’s a gorgeous mix of pink and purple, the colour is really orchid-y. I’ve never really looked for this colour in a nail polish before, but I know Revlon and Essie have a pretty nice one, but they’re both a lot more expensive than this one.

The pictures above are all one coat, which is AMAZING. The only slightly strange think I found with this shade, is that it dries to an almost matte finish. It kind of looks cloudy, if you know what I mean…? It probably just needs a top coat, but I think I’ll just stick to using it without, I kinda like it:) Also, it takes forever to chip, which is great:) In these photos, I’ve already been wearing it for three days. THREE DAYS, WITH ONE COAT, AND NO TOP COAT, FOR *approximately* £1.67?

In case you are now wondering, I got three of these nail polishes for £5. Smiley face:D

I just spent about ten minutes digging round the internet, but it turns out P.I.A don’t have a website ugh but I have found them on Amazon, where they’re about a £5 each. MINE WERE 3 FOR £5, AMAZON, BUT WHATEVER.

They are definitely worth the price. Seriously. LOVE THEM, and will be getting more.

Let me know what you think of this purple, or if you have a better one I should try, or a different colour all together:D I love suggestions and comments and stuff, they give me an excuse to try more things:)

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish | Complete Collection

Image

HOW DID THEY WORK THEIR WAY INTO MY NAIL POLISH COLLECTION? SNEAKY, YES?!

OK, OK, I bought them. Accidentally. You might remember from my What’s In My Superdrug Basket? post, that I had been wanting to try the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine range since it was released, and that I ended up ordering two- Pomegranate and Satsuma. That, my friends, is where the madness started. I absolutely loved them, the colour and the shine and the cute fruity names:) And I decided I wanted to ‘collect’ them, not actually thinking that I would ever actually have the full set. So when I went shopping about a week ago, I saw the Barry M stand and decided to pick up Lychee, Greenberry and Papaya (because Superdrug was doing three for two on Barry M nail polish) which were all just as beautiful as the first two. I, of course, took this as a sign that I should allow my madness and OCD possess me.  Then, when I got home, I decided it would be rude not to make the most of the three for two, so I ordered Blueberry, Grapefruit, Plum, Watermelon, Blood Orange and Barry M Nail Paint in yellow. Don’t ask me why. I then ended up popping into Boots, and bought the last three in the collection- Prickly Pear, Dragon Fruit and Blackberry. WHAT. IS. WRONG. WITH. ME.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I’ve got the collection- they’re beautiful and lovely and I will use them all- but that’s thirteen nail polishes. Not including the yellow one I bought.

Image

OK, here’s the sad part:

I have a checklist of the colours- now complete with swatches- stuck on my wall. Does anyone else do this? No? Didn’t think so.

Image

I’m not sure if you can even read that, my writing’s looking pretty awful, but ohwell. See how gorgeous the colours are?! They aren’t in the most appealing order here. Never mind.

Guess what the best part is? This isn’t even the full collection! Barry M are releasing another five shades on June 5th- Mango, Blue Grape, Keylime, Guava and Passionfruit- which I cannot wait to try out:) All the new colours look great too, exept Passionfruit, which is lovely, but I think they’re overdoing the pink a little bit in this collection. And there’s still no Pineapple/Banana-esque shade! Bah:( And I’d love a purple-y-red-y-pink, like Cherry:) And a really nice Apple green:) I have a feeling we’ll be seeing quite a few more in this range, they’ve been really clever using fruity names that have so many options. What colours do you think they’ll come up with?

The Barry M Gelly Hi Shine range in all their glory.

http://www.barrym.com

So there we go. That’s the collection, which is totally lovely and beautiful and stuff. Let me know if there are any colours here you want to see proper swatches of:) My last post was actually about Greenberry- the turquoise one- so just scroll down and have a look at that, and I also did a post a while ago where you can have a quick look at Pomegranate and Satsuma.

I love the names of this range! So cute, though some of them are a bit like, really? Are you sure you’re going with ‘Blood Orange’ not, I don’t know, strawberry? Also, as a general rule, you can get away with one coat of these and it’ll last a good few days without chipping.

Also, I realise that my last four posts, not including this one, have been about nail polish, but it’s alright because I’ve got some shiny new makeup and things to show you in my next post:)

Have you tried Gelly Hi Shine? What shades have you got, and how weird am I for having, ahem, all of them?:)

Essie First Impressions | Lapiz of Luxury

I went shopping again today and picked up some new stuff, including, finally, a couple of Essie polishes! I thought that because I’ve been wanting to try Essie for so long, I’d do some mini reviews rather than a big post about the stuff I bought:) The rest of non-Essie stuff will have it’s own post too, so don’t worry;)

Lapiz of Luxury

Colour- I am absolutely completely loving this colour. It’s so beautiful, it’s like a dark cornflower blue, and it’s gorgeous. It’s just become one of my favourite nail polish colour, and it would be gorgeous as a background for the dandelion nail art I keep seeing everywhere and still want to try.

Price- £7.99 from Boots or Superdrug, well worth the price.

Quality&Application- The quality is brilliant, I have two coats on in the pictures above, and looks surprisingly shiny. It dries fairly quickly too. The application was really easy, the brush is brilliant and really wide, so you only have to do two strokes across your nail.

Packaging- I love it! It’s a really gorgeous 13.5ml bottle, I like the white polish top, most of mine are black so it really stands out.

Lasts for- I only tend to wear nail polishes for a day and then I change the colour. I know that’s really weird;) but I only get two days a week to be able to wear nail polish, so I like to use as many colours as possible. It’s looking good so far though:)

Overall- Totally loving Essie, and this colour. Will definitely be trying more Essie polishes, but I’ve got another two parts to this post so you’ll be able to see some more of these soon!:) Recommend me some colours to try k?;)

SHINY NEW THINGS, PART 1

NAIL POLISHES

I’ve done it again, I actually have a problem.

I’ve bought new nail polishes. And not just two or three either. Ten of them. And my mum officially gave me her Chanel one, because I love it and she never wears it. ELEVEN. What is wrong with me? On the bright side, it was a nice excuse to re-organise my nail polish collection. So yay:)

Image

HOW BEAUTIFUL. SERIOUSLY.

This is the The Amazing Spiderman collection by OPI, which I talked about in one of my ridiculously cringe-worthy first posts. Last Christmas, I got Your Web Or Mine (the pink, one which I’m wearing at the moment), Just Spotted The Lizard (green one), Into the Night (blue one) and Number One Nemesis (silver-grey one) and about two weeks ago I ordered My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white one), Call Me Gwen-ever (orange one) and Shatter The Scales (apply process of elimination here) from Lena White. It was the first time I’d ever ordered form there, so I was bit nervous, but it arrived to days later – :O -and in the best packaging EVER. I’m not sure how I was expecting them to be delivered to be honest, maybe individually packaged and hand delivered in a bullet proof fire proof box, but they way they were sent was good enough, I guess:)

Image

Image

See? It’s nice, isn’t it? I’ll have to do a post showing you all the colours in more detail, but basically:

My Boyfriend Scales Walls– really opaque, almost milky white. Great quality, easy application.

Your Web Or Mine?– two coats needed, but a really nice pearlescent pink, can look streaky but that just adds to the colour effect.

Call Me Gwen-ever– really vibrant medium-orange. Opaque in one fairly thick coat. Beautiful<3:P

Just Spotted The Lizard– green and gold and beautiful and perfect and amazing and beautiful.

Into The Night– probably the nicest blue I own. Really dark and a little bit pearlescent, like Lizard and Web:)

Number One Nemesis– grey/green, very sparkly but the most difficult of them all to apply. Gorgeous when applied correctly, though.

Shatter The Scales– great shatter polish, very dark green that’s almost black, sparkly, seems to mostly only ‘shatter’ vertically, but still great.

P.I.A. Sneaky, yes? Let me just give you a quick packaging-comparison-

Image

Hmm. I wonder what their inspiration was…

I picked up all three of these colours for £5, so they aren’t like O.P.I in all aspects:) Surprisingly, they are actually amazing nail polishes. I know. I was as shocked as you are. Let’s start with the purple-y pink shall we? OMG. Like seriously, it’s amazing. You might be reading more about this in another post soon, so I wont say any more about it, except OMG. Next, the turquoise-y green, which is like the blue version of Just Spotted The Lizard, is beautiful. Honestly, these nail polishes are all opaque in one coat and it’s amazing. Unfortunately, they don’t have names, just numbers stuck on the bottom chosen at random for no real organisational reason. I bought the blue one because I thought it looked like Barry M Blue Moon (don’t ask for the logic in this one. It wont get you anywhere).

Image

Well, it’s not even close to similar, but it’s SO MUCH BETTER. With the Barry M one, you have to apply about four coats before you can even see it, and then it doesn’t dry, and then it chips and looks disgusting:( but one coat of this P.I.A one was completely opaque and beautiful. Honestly, I am just completely stunned that these polishes work, let alone work well. Wow. I actually haven’t been able to find anywhere you can buy them for any cheaper than about a fiver each, but honestly they’re worth it, so take a look here.

Image

Maybelline Color Show-these are amazing. For a while I only had Solar Flare (orange) but I ordered Downtown Red and Urban Turquoise the other day and I love them just as much as a I loved my other one. They’re brilliant, and really cheap, and you should try them immediately.

Image

Image

I just don’t know what to say to express how much I love these. I just want every colour ever created, because they are beautiful. They’re easy to apply, the colours look vibrant and stunning, ofcoursetheyareopaqueinonecoat, and they’re just generally all round perfection. You can buy me the rest of the colours if you want to;)

Another Barry M- nail art pen! Woooohooo:) This literally only came out a couple of weeks ago, but I saw a great review for it and I was like MINE. I only ordered the black one just in case they turned out to be crap, but I could not have been more wrong. I should have ordered three in every colour, because I will use them. They are amazing. They’re nothing like the ridiculous nail art pens I own at the moment, this one is amazing. It’s pretty much a cross between a gel pen and a felt-tip pen for your nails. I LOVE IT.

Image

Image

This is over the top of my Hi-Shine Gelly nail paints:) Ignore my crappy designs, just look at how well it works!

Thanks for reading Shiny New Things, Part 1! Part 2 and 3 coming up, so stay tuned:) Let me know if you want to see some swatches for any of the colours shown here, and as always, leave me some recommendations:)

WHAT’S IN MY SUPERDRUG BASKET?

Because this is what I do when I’m bored. I stalk http://www.superdrug.com, putting loads of stuff in my basket and hoping my mom will decide I can prder it;)

There’s so pretty amazing make-up kicking around at the moment, so I thought I do a quick post before the WiFi dies again letting you know what’s currently on my Make-Up Wishlisht:) You can read my last make-up wishlist post here, if you want;)

Image

That, right there, my friends, is some talented printscreening.

I’m particularly exited about the new Barry M nail art pens, that I’ve seen a cool review for on http://www.pollypolish.com –check it out, it’s a great blog:)

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these things&what you thought of them, and, as always, recommendations welcome;)

I really sorry that my last few posts have been so useless, I’m going home today, so tomorrow I’ll try to get a good post up for you;)
