L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Les Blancs Nail Polish

Admittedly, I’m a little late on my Spring nail polish releases.

I’ve had my eye on L’Oreal’s Les Blancs nail polishes for quite a while now, and I finally own them so here- look how pretty they are!

Image

In my defence, I would happily wear pastel nail polish all year round- I generally prefer them to bright, Summer nail polishes (which I personally reserve for those rare days in England when we have bright, Summer weather) and these ones are just so perfect. They’re pretty much opaque in two coats, but you can get away with three without it affecting the drying time, which, by the way, is very quick. I love the brush for these nail polishes too, it coats the whole nail in one swipe- which makes it incredibly difficult to end up with streaky, messy nails- and once this nail polish is on and you’ve added a top coat, it won’t chip for at least three days.

Peach Neglige, Lemon Meringue, Pistachio Drage, Nouvelle Vague

Have you tried these? I think my favourite at the moment is Nouvelle Vague, but Lemon Meringue is completely different to any other nail polish I own, or have even seen. Let me know what you think!

New Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish | Spring

Eeeeek! I am so obsessed with these nail polishes and now there are three more! The new shades are pale, pretty pastels (very Spring appropriate) and are sticking to the Gelly Hi Shine fruity names, except now they’re a little more fancy. Intoducing- Sugar Apple, Rose Hip and Huckleburry (£3.99 each, currently 2 for £6).

Image

Image

Image

Sugar Apple- pastel green. When I first saw this, I thought it was an exact dupe for Mint Candy Apple, but Sugar Apple is actually much more blue and much more vibrant.

Rose Hip- pastel pink. This colour is absolutely beautiful, easily my favourite, and I think it’s the one I’m most likely to reach for. It’s definitely the palest pink I own (not including off-white pinks…This is too complicated) but it’s still very bright, if that makes sense.

Huckleburry- pastel blue. Another beautiful one, but then again I will literally say that about any pale to medium blue nail polish. This colour is slightly more muted than the other two, but it still has a brightness to it that you don’t normally get from pastels.

Rose Hip (middle finger), Huckleburry (ring finger) and Sugar Apple (little finger) worn with Barry M Matte ‘Nude Vanilla’.

These colours are so difficult to photograph! They’re so different to other pastel nail polishes (which are normally a white base with a tint of colour) I’ve tried. These shades kind of look like really, really pale neons. Does that make sense? They’re so beautiful, even more so in person.

Image

As much as I love the new colours of these nail polishes, I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the formula, or the quality. It actually pains me to write that, because all the previous Gelly Hi Shine nail polishes (and I do mean all of them) have been perfect- opaque in one or two coats, fast drying, long lasting- the whole lot. But these new shades seem completely different. They’re incredibly streaky, they need at least three coats and they take freaking forever to dry. You might be able to see in the first few swatch photos that there are little prints on my nails? Well, those prints are from my pillow, when I was sleeping, ten hours after painting my nails. WHAT?! Also, I’ve been wearing ‘Rose Hip’ for 24 hours now, but already two of my nails have chipped. To be fair I am terrible with my nails, and as I’ve mentioned before, I use them as tools and I type a lot- but I still expect at least two days of perfect nails.

It’s really infuriating, because I wanted to love these so much!

What do you think? Will you be trying these? I think I’ll keep using these, to be honest, because even though the quality isn’t great I do really love the colours. Which is your favourite?

Barry M Silk Nail Polish | Review & Swatches

This is my 100th published post!

Barry M Silk Nail Polish | Review & Swatches

Look at this lovely pastel fabulous-ness! Barry M’s Silk Nail Polishes are probably the prettiest collection they’ve released and I am completely obsessed.

Meadow, Mist, Heather, Blossom, Pearl, Truffle £3.99– such cute names!

DSCF3854

Image

Meadow is pale green which is opaque in three coats. This colour is lovely in the bottle, but on my nails it’s my last favourite purely because pale green isn’t that great against my super pale skin.

Mist is a really beautiful light blue, which is fully opaque in three coats but personally I prefer the look of two. One of my favourites in this collection, but I will honestly fall in love with any blue nail polish.

Heather is another favourite- pale purple, with the same opacity as Mist. I love this colour but I’m not sure how often I’ll reach for it, I always forget about purples, for some reason.

Image

Blossom is absolutely beautiful. It’s baby pink and opaque in three coats (again, I prefer the look of two) which I really love on my skin tone.

Pearl is the best name, really, because that’s exactly what this nail polish is. It’s pure white, and opaque in three coats. Not my favourite, but probably lovely if you’re tanned.

Truffle really surprised me and is my absolute favourite of the collection. The colour’s a really difficult one to describe, because in some lights it’s a silvery greige, and in others it’s a golden champagne colour. Opaque in two or three coats.

Truffle

How would you describe this colour? In these photos it looks almost like a pale brown (Truffle is actually a very good name) but it’s definitely got more of a duo-chrome to it in real life.

*Sorry about my disgusting nails, particularly my index finger. Do your nails ever do that thing were they kind of peel off?! It sounds so disgusting, but mine do that all the time, which is strange because they’re actually pretty healthy.*

From left to right: Pearl, Blossom, Heather, Mist, Meadow.

I’m not sure if you can tell in these photos, but the finish of these nail polishes is absolutely beautiful. They’re frosty, pearly and almost matte. They’re quite sheer, too, and you can see in some of my photos (particularly with Truffle, which I only used two coats for) that you can still see the line on my nails. I actually really like that with these polishes, they kind of give a soft, barely-there effect on your nails (the nail equivalent of tinted lip balms?) which just looks really neat and polished. They also dry really quickly, so you can do two very thin coats of any of these colours and be out the door in under ten minutes.

These last two or three days on me without chipping, but I’m not sure that’s the best test because I do a lot of typing and I’m the worst offender for using my nails as tools. They could possibly last longer with a topcoat, but obviously that would ruin the pretty effect. I don’t think even a matte top coat would work, because these are kind of a satin finish. Petition to change the names of these to Satin, instead of Silk? Silk isn’t really the first thing I think of when I see them, but how pretty is the packaging?!

Will you be trying any of these? They’re buy one get one half price at Superdrug at the moment, and I think they’re such a great take on the pastel-nails-for-Spring trend.

I’ve finally tried out Butter London polishes! I’m a little bit in love. What do you think of this duo? There’s ‘Ice’, too, which I’m thinking of getting because I literally cannot resist blue nail polish.

The quality of these nail polishes is excellent, by the way. The pictures above were taken two days after painting my nails and they still look awesome (but please ignore the not-so-awesome state of my cuticles).

What are your favourite Butter London shades?

OPI and Essie | Wishlist

I’ve put together some pictures of the nail polishes I like the look of for Autumn/ Winter 2013- they’re so beautiful! All photos are from http://www.opiuk.com and http://www.boots.co.uk, let me know what you think of these shades, or if there are any others you’re planning on buying!

Nail Polish | Autumn Favourites

I really loved talking about my favourite autumn lip colours the other day, and as it’s been way too long since I last talked about nail polish, I thought I’d do another Top-10! And it’s only been three days since my last post- look at me sticking to a schedule.

Image

1. Seventeen Rock Hard Nail Effects- Black

Image

Black is definitely my favourite nail polish colour, particularly at this time of year, and I think this textured one is really pretty and interesting.

2. Barry M Matte Nail Paint- Espresso

Image

Black nail polish again! This one dries to an almost matte finish- it’s almost impossible to apply it neatly but when you do it looks gorgeous.

3. Barry M Matte Nail Paint- Crush

Image

This is probably one of my favourite nail polishes ever, and I only bought it about a week ago. Such a beautiful, matte-finish, deep-red-wine-burgundy shade.

4. Barry M Hi Shine Gelly- Blackberry

Image

I had get one of my lovely Hi Shine Gelly nail polishes in this post! This super-dark, super-shiney blue is lovely.

5. Collection 2000 Hot Looks- Hidden

Image

Khaki green isn’t the kind of nail polish shade I would usually go for, but with a gold glitter top coat I think this one looks awesome.

6. OPI- Just Spotted The Lizard

Image

This is my all time favourite nail polish, and even though I wear it all year round, I think it’s a particularly beautiful Autumnal, leafy shade.

7. Zoya- Carly

Image

This shade was from a Summer collection, but it’s dark, glittery and purple so it’s definitely in my Autumn nail polish wardrobe.

8. OPI- Number One Nemesis

Image

Dark, glittery grey- this nail polish is absolutely perfect. I love this one and it’s majorly under-hyped on the internet.

9. OPI Don’t Pretzel My Buttons

Image

This one really doesn’t look like much, but it’s my absolute favourite nude nail polish and I’ve been wearing it pretty much every day at the moment.

10. OPI- Call Me Gwen-ever

Image

Bright pumpkin orange because why the hell not?

So they are my current favourite nail polishes. I think they’re all really pretty colours, some of the formulas (Barry M Matte) aren’t my favourite, but I only normally wear one nail polish colour for a day or two so that doesn’t really matter. Do you like the look of- or have any- of these?

The Nail Polish Quiz! New tag?

I thought I’d go a bit crazy and make a tag-type question thing:) I have no idea if any one is even a little bit interested in the answers and everything, but they’re all questions I’d love to know the answers to, so if anybody wants to do the tag as well, that’d be so awesome and I’d love to read it!

Also, let me know if there are any other questions you want me to add, because mine probably aren’t going to be that great:)

1. What nail polish are you wearing right now?

Essie, Lapiz of Luxury

2. What’s your favourite nail polish colour?

Anything orange/coral/peach or blue

3. How many nail polishes do you have in your collection that you’ve never used?

16…

4. How often do you buy nail polish?

I’ll probably buy three or four bottles a month? Sometime a lot more:)

5. Name a nail polish you love, but you don’t wear?

Revlon Nail Enamel in Posh. Such an interesting colour, but doesn’t suit me.

6. Any nail polishes you always take off after an hour?

O.P.I Into The Night. It’s one of the most beautiful colours ever, I just can’t wear it.

7. How often do you change your nail polish?

Every day, because I’m weird and I get bored.

8. Favourite nail polish brands?

Essie, Barry M, O.P.I

9. Most disappointing nail polish you’ve tried?

Any crackle nail polish. When it’s done properly, I love it, but most of the time it looks disgusting;|

10. Most expensive nail polish you own?

Chanel Nail Colour in 509 Paradoxal. I actually hate it, the brush is ridiculously thin.

11. Cheapest nail polish you own?

My P.I.A polishes. I got them on 3 for £5 😀

12. Have you got a whole nail polish collection?

The O.P.I Spiderman collection, and I pride myself on owning every single Barry M Gelly Hi Shine 🙂

13. Do you/ can you do nail art?

Occasionally I’ll do something really simple (very messy NOTD pic!) but most of the time I don’t bother because I change my nail polish so often.

Image

14. How do you store your nail polish?

In three perfume boxes, organised by a) ‘high end’, b) favourites and c) can’t-bring-myself-to-throw-them-away-but-I-don’t-wear-them.

15. How many nail polishes do you own?

Too many to count, but not as many as I’d like:)

16. Nail polish brands you want to try?

Sally Hansen, Jessica, A England and more Zoya’s!

17. Do you use a base coat/ top coat?

When I remember! If I’m wearing a colour that’s going to stain my nails, I normally make more of an effort:)

18. Nude, black, or French manicure?

Black. Always, goes with everything:D

19. Currently at the top of my nail-polish-wishlist…?

Essie Mesmerized, O.P.I Gargantuan Green Grape and O.P.I Cajun Shrimp.

20. All time favourite nail polish(es)?

O.P.I Just Spotted The Lizard was my first ever O.P.I so it’s special:) But also Barry M Greenberry and Revlon One Perfect Coral.

Feel free to leave out some of the questions if you decide to do the tag, 20 is quite a lot!:D Hope you liked this, it was really fun and remember to leave a link to your tag!:D

July shopping:)

Ok, I have literally gone makeup and cosmetic shopping insane, this month, so I thought I’d do a *quick* post, with mainly pictures and not much of me rambling so you can decide if there’s anything you want me to review:)

Here’s most of what I bought this month-

Image

Nail Polish! If you’re new here, you should know I have a small problem. Just scroll through some of my previous posts, you’ll understand.

Left-right= Essie Mint Candy Apple, Maybelline Color Show in 130 Winter Baby, 150 Mauve Kiss, 465 Brick Shimmer and 661 Ocean Blue, Revlon Nail Enamel in 770 Heavenly and 580 Eclectic.

Image

Image

I bought Apocaliptic pretty much in the week these lip lacquers came out because I’d seen so many bloggers go crazy for them, but I was actually really unimpressed, mainly because of the colour. I decided to pick a few more up the other day and give them a second chance. To be honest, I’m still not in love, but I’m still planning on getting more colours. By the way, this swatches? Real love. These things stain.

Image

Can’t do a ridiculously expensive Boots order without skincare! Love both of those, I am actually planning a skincare post soon if anyone’s interested?

Image

Image

Image

LOVING all of these. So pretty, you know how I love my Natural Collection lipsticks, and I’m thinking I’m gonna be pretty obsessive over these Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks now:D

Image

I’ve got 6 of these now, but there are 4 or 5 more I want, so when I have them I’ll do swatches and a real review and stuff:) These were actually in one of my very first reviews. All cringe:L

Image

Image

Image

More about all these in my next post:)

Image

Free nail polish (I got Electric Dream which is sooo pretttyyy) when you spend over £4 on Collection- of course I got another Lasting Perfection Concealer:)

Image

My sister asked me to order her some Natural Collection makeup, so I decided I’d try out their blush in Peach Melba, which so far I am loving.

Image

Little bit more Soap&Glory makeup (another post in the making, I think) which are both amazing!!

This isn’t including the ridiculous amount of hair dye I stocked up on  this month, but I didn’t think anyone was interested in that:)

Let me know if there’s anything here you want a review for, or any recommendations and stuff in the comments;)

Nail Polish Colour Crush- Purple(:

I’m starting to really love writing these posts! It’s nice to just talk about one amazing nail polish, rather than doing a post with five different items in it:)

I thought that for nail polish colour crush no#3, I tell you about one of the P.I.A polishes I have. You might remember from a post I did about a month ago where I talked about these, kind of briefly, but promised a more detailed review. Well, this is it:D Kind of. OK, so it’s not that detailed. But there are a few pretty pictures!! You can have a look at said post here.

Image

This is P.I.A polish in 12. No, it doesn’t have a name. Yes, that does drive me mad. But I’ll get over it, because look at this colour! It’s a gorgeous mix of pink and purple, the colour is really orchid-y. I’ve never really looked for this colour in a nail polish before, but I know Revlon and Essie have a pretty nice one, but they’re both a lot more expensive than this one.

Image

Image

The pictures above are all one coat, which is AMAZING. The only slightly strange think I found with this shade, is that it dries to an almost matte finish. It kind of looks cloudy, if you know what I mean…? It probably just needs a top coat, but I think I’ll just stick to using it without, I kinda like it:) Also, it takes forever to chip, which is great:) In these photos, I’ve already been wearing it for three days. THREE DAYS, WITH ONE COAT, AND NO TOP COAT, FOR *approximately* £1.67?

In case you are now wondering, I got three of these nail polishes for £5. Smiley face:D

I just spent about ten minutes digging round the internet, but it turns out P.I.A don’t have a website ugh but I have found them on Amazon, where they’re about a £5 each. MINE WERE 3 FOR £5, AMAZON, BUT WHATEVER.

They are definitely worth the price. Seriously. LOVE THEM, and will be getting more.

Let me know what you think of this purple, or if you have a better one I should try, or a different colour all together:D I love suggestions and comments and stuff, they give me an excuse to try more things:)
